Spring Update 2021

It is reassuring to see the easing of restrictions and some level of normality resuming after a long arduous winter.  Unfortunately, Covid-19 is still here, so we must remain vigilant and observe social distancing recommendations.

The committee met on Tuesday 20 April, the first meeting since November.  A lengthy agenda was up for discussion and approval,  business is continuing as usual, despite the restrictions and challenges that we have encountered.

It is fantastic to see the refurbishment and development of the Boat Club commencing. The Committee have agreed a further spend: building work undertaken as part of our current project to install a lift and provide disabled access.

The Committee also welcomed eleven new members joining the club since Christmas.

In accordance with RYANI guidance, water sports are now permitted with limitations.  Race practice sessions commenced last Thursday and it was reassuring to see ten sailing yachts participating.  From 23rd April racing can commence and facilities reopen.

Work will soon be commencing on all Boat parks to provide additional amenities and create more space. This will involve movement and relocation of some boats and trailers. Your cooperation and help will be greatly appreciated throughout the transitional period.

A general cleanup day has been organised for Saturday 01 May 2021 at 10am, all help would be greatly appreciated.  Please remember it is your club and we all have a responsibility to contribute, let’s make it easier for all by doing our part.

The bar will reopen on the same date providing an outdoor service only.

A general waste bin has been placed beside the recycling bin, please take time to ensure waste is disposed of correctly.

Once again I would ask that you refrain from driving or parking on grass verges if possible as this causes ground damage.

ACNI has embarked on a joint project with other boat club members to upcycle Harmonie as an outdoor feature and a tribute to the many young people and their mentors who have been part of the Atlantic Challenge family for the last 20 years.  We are currently seeking sponsorship for this project but we hope to have the work completed before July.  Please contact Theresa on 07974181564 if you are interested in getting involved.

Work has commenced on the new entrance to the Caravan Park and Boat Club, please be aware of site traffic and the health and safety of workers.  There may be delays in accessing our facilities but these will be minimal therefore I would ask for your patience and understanding whilst this work is underway.

Please be assured that I am available to listen to any concerns or discuss any issues you may have so please contact if you wish to do so.

As before if any member is experiencing difficultly or requires assistance due to current restrictions please contact me and I will endeavor to do whatever possible to help.

In the meantime, continue to keep safe.
